The Compute Systems team at Waymo is responsible for pioneering high-performance digital systems crucial for the Waymo Driver. As a key leader in a dynamic, cross-functional environment, you'll be instrumental in directing and coordinating programs across various product areas, solving complex challenges, and driving innovation in autonomous technology. This role offers high visibility to leadership, promising growth opportunities, and the chance to work on cutting-edge projects.

In this role you'll:

  • Architect, drive design and manage builds of Compute modules and systems. This includes:
  • Leading feasibility analyses, trade studies and define multi-year roadmaps for your product areas
  • Coordinating multi-disciplinary leads towards project deliverables and milestones
  • Potentially contribute directly to project deliverables based on your engineering background
  • Work with program managers, supply chain and manufacturing teams to coordinate high-quality, on-time and on-budget builds
  • Help communicate project status, risks, and key decisions to both Waymo leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Review and advise other systems or senior engineering leaders facing similar challenges

At a minimum we'd like you to have:

  • Experience leading at least one full cross-functional product design cycle, including: architecture, program planning, design, validation, and manufacturing
  • At least 8 years design experience in one of the following:
  • Electrical engineering, PCB design - schematic capture, layout, bringup / validation and production
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Software / FW engineering
  • Experience with computer architecture and design - communication interfaces (CAN, I2C, SPI, MIPI, Ethernet, DDRx, PCIe), understanding of cross-functional implications of HW design decisions.
  • Familiarity with Python, C++, and Linux environments
  • Strong technical communication skills

It's preferred if you have:

  • Experience in design for automotive environments
  • Experience with high-speed digital / high-performance compute (HPC) architectures and design
  • Experience with automotive Telematics modules
  • Familiarity with PCB CAD tools (Cadence or Altium)
  • Fluency in Python, C++ and Linux environments

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the role location or, if the role can be performed remote, the specific salary range for your preferred location, during the hiring process. 

Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.

$217,000$275,000 USD
